Let's kick off with a celebration of the wonderful Rev Sue Jacobs following her ordination last weekend! Here's a message from her for the District: "Dear Friends across the District, An enormous thank you to all who have surrounded me in love and soaked me in prayer as I walked towards being received into full connexion and ordained. ReNew – 28 July 2026 Our summer ReNew event for lay people in the District is fast approaching but there's still time to book on if you'd like to join us! We're delighted to share that Keiko Gray will be joining us as a key speaker. Keiko and David Gray were Mission Partners sent by the Methodist Church of Britain to the United Church of Christ in Japan, and assigned to Okinawa from the 1980s for over 20 years. David died suddenly in a swimming pool accident, and Keiko's testimony is around her walk with God since then, and how she has developed her own ministry, which includes Japanese dance. On the 7th June, the congregation at Trinity Methodist Church Oadby celebrated the 100th birthday and 78 years of ministry of Rev Dr Albert Mosley. Albert received a letter from the then President of Conference, Rev Richard Andrew, which was read out by Rev Malcolm Oliver, acting Superintendent. The letter spoke of a life of outstanding service to Christ's Church across the world. As Overseas Division Secretary, later General Secretary, Albert worked tirelessly to strengthen relationships with Methodist Churches across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, the Americas and Europe, helping to shape what we now understand as the global relations work of the Methodist Church in Britain. It spoke of a ministry shaped by compassion, openness and a vision of God's inclusive kingdom. |
